Obituary
Mr. Norman L. "Buck" Speas, Sr. was born on January 8, 1937 to Isaac and Della Speas. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
Mr. Speas attended the local public schools. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 27 years of service. He was a faithful member of Center Grove AME Zion Church in Tobaccoville, NC where he served as a Trustee and sang with the Sanctuary Choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, J.C. Jarrett.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife Vira Estelle Hickman Speas of 52 years; six sons, Norman (Anna) Speas, Jr., Tony Speas and Kim (Bonita) Speas all of Tobaccoville, NC; Bobby (Penny) Speas of Greensboro, NC, Noble (Cynthia) Speas of Germanton, NC, Nicholas (Jini) Speas; one daughter, Florinda (Dennis) Morgan both of Winston Salem, NC; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, William (Winnie) Speas of Tobaccoville, NC, Billy (Odessa) Speas of Pfafftown, NC, Allen (Adrienne) Speas of Walkertown, NC and James (Rachel) Speas of Germany; four sisters, Margaret Stimpson of Fayetteville, NC, Carolyn Speas and Winnie Faye Speas both of Tobaccoville, NC and Karatha (Michael) Scott of Pfafftown, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Speas' homegoing service will be conducted at 1pm Monday, June 16, 2008 from the Center Grove AME Zion Church in Tobaccoville, NC with Reverend Dr. Calvin L. Miller, Presiding Elder officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
