Norma Jean Wiley Speas was born in Conway, South Carolina on November 3, 1931 to Tolar & Juanita Wiley (both deceased). She departed this life at her daughter's home in Loganville, GA on June 4, 2023 at the age of 91.
Norma Jean attended St. Paul School in Conway, South Carolina. After moving to Winston-Salem, NC, she attended Carver High School where she was crowned "Miss Carver High 1951-1952." Norma Jean was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and faithfully served on the Ladies Progressive Ministry, Chancel Choir, Sheepfold Ministry and Sunday School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlette Speas; her brothers, George Clayton Wiley, Tolar "Pete" Wiley, Morris Keith Wiley, and James "Duck" Wiley.
She leaves to cherish most dear and precious memories, a loving daughter, Sharon Speas Davis (Garry R.), Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Garry R. Davis, II (Crissy), Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Bryttani S. Davis Aninye (Rashad), Durham, NC; four great grandchildren, Remington, Sutton, Anniston & Ellington; five sisters, Margaret Bostic and Evelyn Brown, both of Conway, South Carolina, Geraldine Kearse, Winston-Salem, NC, Ruby Wiley and Mable James (Phil) both of Philadelphia, PA; three sisters-in-law, Kim Wiley, and Sarah Wiley, both of Conway, SC, Lorraine Wiley, Winston-Salem, NC; two special "God" sons, Bruce Henry (Lydia), Winston-Salem, NC and Terry Jones, Pfafftown, NC; a devoted "God" daughter, Eleanor F. King, Pfafftown, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, June 16, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Center Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery, Tobaccoville, NC. The family visitation will be held 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
