Obituary

Mr. Nelson Lee Benton Malloy, Sr., 78, known to family and friends as "SHOEBOOT", passed away on February 24, 2007 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and Palliative Care Center .

He was born on February 28, 1928 in Bennettsville , SC to Allison and Louise Malloy.

He was a graduate of Atkins High School class of '45. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Piedmont Publishing Company after 25 years of services. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Bivouac Lodge # 503. Mr. Malloy was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church .

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rosa Lee D. Malloy; one brother, Johnnie Malloy; and one sister, Juanita Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Brendora Petree of Winston-Salem , NC ; five sons, Nelson Lee Malloy, Jr., Forrest S. Malloy, and DeNorris Malloy all of Winston-Salem, NC, Stewart C. Malloy of Bellport, Long Island, NY, and Dwight C. Malloy of Raleigh, NC; daughters-in-law, Claudia McGuire-Malloy and Sheryleen Malloy; one son-in-law, Rev. Dennis Petree, Sr.; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; an adoptive son, Bilal Muhammad of Winston-Salem, NC; special friends, Billy Blank and Charles Nivens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Kendall D. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery . The family visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Church. There will be no public viewing of Mr. Malloy.
