Obituary

Mrs. Nellie Lee Horton Sullivan, 87, of Winston-Salem, NC, went home to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Wake Forest University/ Baptist Medical Center.

Nellie began this life on February 9, 1919 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She was united in holy matrimony to Handy Benjamin Sullivan on February 5, 1935

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Edward and Nettie Pond Horton; six brothers and sisters, Jay Horton, Charlie Horton, John Horton, Pearl Horton Horn, Annie Horton Sullivan, and Bridie Horton Sullivan; one grandson, Brian Carlton Sullivan; and one great-granddaughter, Jaida Monique Bray.

Mrs. Sullivan leaves to cherish her memories her five children, Lena Sullivan Richmond, Rudolph (Lois) Sullivan, and Immogene Sullivan Bray all of Winston-Salem, NC, Gloria Sullivan Brown of Pfafftown, NC, and Thomas Lee (Sue) Sullivan of Greensboro, NC; three sisters-in-law, Rose Lee Bell of McBee, SC, Minnie Horton of Hartsville, SC, and Cleo Horton of Philadelphia, PA; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; one god daughter, Henrietta (Ralph) Rattley; one god son, Bobby (Dianne) Harris; special friend of the family, Danny Rogers; the Carver Road Church of Christ family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 1:00 pm from the Carver Road Church of Christ with Brother Julius Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held Friday, February 9, 2007 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude for all the prayers and care given to Mrs. Sullivan during her time of illness to the following: Dr Deirdre Herrington and staff at the Blue Ridge Medical Association, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, 4th floor Ardmore Tower Stroke Unit, Dr. Mitchell at Winston-Salem Cardiology, Advance Homecare, and the Carver Rd. Church of Christ Family.
