Obituary

Nathaniel Green Small, affectionately known as "Nat" was born August 15, 1950 to the late Mae Frances Green and Wesley Small; reared by the late Woodrow and Catherine Johnson. Nat departed this life on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools and was a graduate of Paisley High School. He was an active member of NA for 11 years.

He was employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 21 years, Microfibres for 15 years, and The Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) for 4 years.

He grew up in The Macedonia Worship Center and was currently a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful van driver, a devoted Sunday school participant, and he enjoyed studying and expounding on the word of God.

In addition to his parents, Nat was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaree Smith, Vandelia Quick, and Cathy Hunt; and one brother, Wesley Small.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of eight years, Lacine Lowrance Small; one daughter, Tara Lynette Hardy; one granddog, Watch Hardy; five brothers, Selmon Green, Clarence Green of New York, NY, Charles Green, Woodrow (Alice) Johnson, and Elston Johnson of W-S, NC; six sisters, Roberta Lewis of Coney Island, NY, Louvenia Green, Denise Green, Neba Green, Vickie Johnson-Hicks, and Deboria (John) May all of W-S, NC; a devoted mother-in-law, Mae Lowrance; sisters-in-law, JoJean (William) Earley of Rockville, MD, Delois (Willie) Sheppard of Tampa, FL, Judy Cobb and Debbra Robinson of W-S, NC; brothers-in-law, Joseph Lowrance and Michael Lowrance of W-S, NC; a special play son, Jose Perez; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dwight Hash, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
