Early Tuesday morning, August 14, 2007, God picked Mr. Nathaniel Shelf, 66, of 2900-0 New Walkertown Road, from his Garden of Life at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center. He was born to Henry Davis and Helen Shelf on June 14, 1941. His aunt, Georgia Davis who loved him and his late brother, Roy Shelf as her own, raised
him. Nathaniel was a native of Forsyth County and lived a short while in New York City. Nathaniel retired from Modern Chevrolet and was a car body repairman by trade. He was a member of the Saint Stephen Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Bernard (Ester) Polite and Marvin (Angela) King; five grandchildren, Stephanie Wheeler, Jahaad Polite, Stephanie, Latrece, Ari Tatyana King and the entire Latham family; a god-daughter, Glendora Payne and the Polite children and a devoted friend, Ms. Annie Mae Clower; special friends, Wyatt and Busta Gaines, Garland Wallace, Sam Morrison, Elizabeth Miller, Buck Caldwell, Chuck and the Jetway and East Gate community.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of the Russell Funeral Home with the Reverend Gwaltney Leak officiating. The family visitation will be from 12:00 NOON until 1:00 PM this afternoon at the Russell Funeral Home.
