Ms. Nannie Ruth Welch, of 515 East 27th St., was born on September 9, 1933 to the late Ernest and Elsieann B. Welch. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Walnut Cove, NC and later moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she attended Carver High School. She was a devoted homemaker and loving mother. Ms. Welch was a loyal member of Carver Road Christian Church for over 50 years and served in a number of capacities until she had fallen ill. Ms. Welch was preceded in death by two brothers, Javan Welch and James (June) Clyburn; and a sister, Ida Gravely. She is survived by her daughter, Angel R. Welch; granddaughters, Amber Welch and Amariah Welch, all of the home; three sons; Lewis Earl Welch, of Winston-Salem, NC, Marion Andrea Welch (Mary) of Charleston, SC, and Michael Renard Welch (Ophelia) of Sedalia, NC; three sisters, Clora Williams of Bassett, VA, Emma Simmons of Charlotte, NC, and Nealie Sharp (Wilbert) of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother; Ralph Welch (Ruth) of Detroit, MI; 13 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Carver Road Christian Church with Dr. Linda Beal officiating. Interment will follow in Baileytown Family Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC. The family visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Church.
