Mrs. Nannie M. McCluney Allen of 145 Tall Pine Court heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest" on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center. Nannie was born on May 25, 1925 to L. J. McCluney and Eleanor Johnson McCluney in Gaffney, South Carolina. She was the 3rd child of eight siblings. She attended the public schools of Union County, South Carolina. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Lee Junior Allen and relocated to High Point, NC where she was a resident for 10 years. She relocated to Greensboro, NC where she resided for 27 years before making Winston-Salem, NC her home for the last 4 years. Nannie was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, NC for 27 years where she was a faithful member of the Senior Choir until her health began to fail. She was a loyal servant of the Lord and always placed the welfare of others above anything else. She was a committed and dedicated to her church and maintained a high level of respect from all of her family members. Nannie retired from Carolina Spring Company of High Point, NC with 10 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; one sister and two loving sons, James Edward Allen and Tyrone Eugene Allen.
Nannie leaves not to mourn but to cherish the memories, one loving daughter, Rosa (Albert) Penn of the home; two loving sons, Lee Junior Allen of Winston-Salem, NC and David (Virginia) Allen of Greensboro, NC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Annie Mae Foster, Rosa Lee Palmer of High Point, NC and Eloise McCluney of Greensboro, NC: a host of other relatives, friends, Church family and admirers.
Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Nannie M. McCluney Allen will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 12:30 PM from the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 601 Wise Street, High Point, NC 27260. Interment will follow in the Carolina Biblical Gardens, High Point, NC. The family visitation will be from 12:00 NOON until 12:30 PM on Tuesday at the Church.
