Nannie Luvenia Eubanks Wells Clay Howard was born to the late Thaddeaus Eubanks and Bodie Thomas in Louisville, KY on February 18, 1927. She was the youngest of four children (all preceded her in death). She attended school in Louisville, KY and graduated from Central High School. At the age of eight she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized on Easter Sunday morning at Fifth Street Baptist Church. She received her Heavenly wings on March 8, 2022, in Winston-Salem, NC.
On March 18, 1948, she married Richard Benjamin Wells (deceased). To this union one son was born, Benjamin Richard Wells.
On September 1, 1956, she married Frank Arthur Clay, Sr. (deceased). To this union one son was born, John Arthur Clay. The marriage united three other children, Antha Rebecca Clay Perry, Frank Arthur Clay, Jr. (deceased) and Darnell Watson Clay, Sr. (deceased).
On July 20, 1974, she was united in marriage to James George Howard, who preceded her in death.
She joined Green Castle Baptist Church on January 14, 1962. She served as Household Director, President of Deacons Wives, attended Sunday School and was a faithful member until she moved to Winston-Salem, NC. Upon her arrival, she became a member of Union Baptist Church on January 24, 2008. Recently, she wanted to go back to church, "Just one more time" …
She leaves to cherish her children, Antha R. Clay Perry (JD Perry, deceased) of Abilene, TX, Frank A. Clay, Jr., deceased (Inez) of Greensboro, NC, Darnell W. Clay, Sr., deceased (Angelyn) of Louisville, KY, Ben R. Wells (Lisa) of Winston-Salem, NC, and John A. Clay (Bettie) of Winston-Salem, NC; she also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Union Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Wednesday at the Church. Interment will be held at a later date in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
