Mrs. Nancy Ellen Huffin Patterson, 61, was born October 1, 1954 in Rose Hill, NC to the late Johnnie Huffin, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Huffin. She attended the local schools of Winston-Salem and went on to graduate from North Forsyth High School. She was a dedicated and loving mother of four with a heart of gold. She thought nothing about giving her last to someone in need. She was a true mama's girl, not a day went by that Nancy didn't talk to her mother.

Known as "Munk" to her close friends and family, a nickname that was given to her by her grandmother, the late Luberta Huffin, she was loved by all that knew her. When she wasn't spending time with her 9 grandchildren, she was enjoying a can of snuff at home, ordering from QVC as she watched for new home accessories on her big screen TV.

One thing certain, "Munk" had no problem seaking what was on her mind. At the young age of 7, she single-handedly unveiled the truth about the Santa Clause conspiracy to her siblings by showing them the hidden Christmas presents in their parent's closet. That was just "Munk". Just a few months ago, while staying with her sister Bobbi, she was thanking her for taking such good care of her and all that entailed. When Bobbi told her there was no need to thank her because she was sure Nancy would do the same for her, "Munk" was quick to respond, "I don't wanna lie…..I don't think I would!" That was "Munk", you didn't ask anything you didn't want an honest answer to.

We all loved her and we will all continue to share our stories with each other to share her life and honor the impact she's made on so many people. She lived on her terms and made no apologies for it. That's what we continue to love about her memory today. Everyone who knew her will now honor her memory through laughter, through smiles, some tears at first and through the joy she left.

Nancy Ellen Huffin Patterson departed this life on Monday, June 13, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Huffin, Sr.

She is survived by her four children, Benjamin (LaTonia) Huffin, Jr., Latisha Allison, Antonio Patterson, and Antoinette Patterson (George) Mickle; her mother, Nancy Elizabeth Huffin; three brothers, Johnnie Huffin, Jr., Anthony Huffin, and Isaiah "Frank" Huffin; four sisters, Barbara Allison, Marolyn Moore, Carolyn Huffin, and Carolyn Sue Boney; her two cousins, David Huffin and Walter Bryant; nine beautiful grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:00pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
