Morece Scott Wade, affectionately known as "Mo", departed this life into her eternal life on October 31, 2015. She was born November 23, 1927 to Mary Jane Horton Scott and Quilla Worthyn Scott in Lenoir, NC.
Morece attended the Caldwell County schools and graduated from Freedman High School in 1945 as the valedictorian of her senior class. After high school, she attended Morristown College in Morristown, TN and furthered her education at Katie B. Reynolds Nursing School Winston-Salem, NC. Upon completion of nursing school, Mo worked for a short time at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. She returned to work at Katie B. Reynolds Hospital as a nurse for a number of years. She then went on to further her education at North Carolina Central University where she received her Master's Degree in Public Health. Morece's career continued as she taught pediatric nursing, working for the Department of Public Health. She retired as a school nurse. Morece enjoyed nurturing and caring for children on a daily basis.
Morece was reared in a Christian home where she developed strong Christian values at an early age. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church serving in many of its organizations such as The Women's Society of Christian Service, the church choir, The Yadkin Valley District of Older Adults Committee of the United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the Sunday school. She also served her community by regularly visiting the sick and shut-In and always feeding and caring for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas, John, Walter, Ethel, and Ruth; niece, Elizabeth; and two nephews, John and Vaughn.
Morece leaves to cherish her memories her husband, William "Billy" Wade; daughter, Denise (Aaron) Warner; two grandchildren, Ashely Warner (Marcus) Smith and Aaron Brent Warner; great-grandchildren, Austin Warner, Deja Smith, Andre Warner, and Ayden Warner; sister-in-law, Bettie Davis; nieces, Phyllis I. Scott, Carro Davis Johnson, and Iris W. Davis; nephews, Abdullah Nazeer and Edward Scott; devoted cousins, Margie Howell and Larkin (Patricia) Horton; many other family members and a special cadre of classmates and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ardeal Roseboro officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Chapel.
