Mrs. Mollie Craig Wagner was born August 24, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Walter and Selena Craig. She was the only daughter and the third child of the family.
She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in Charleston, SC and received her undergraduate degree from South Carolina State University. During her college years, she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and was named Miss South Carolina State. After college, Mollie met and married David H. Wagner, Jr. This union was blessed with five children, four daughters and one son.
Mrs. Wagner was an elementary school teacher for eighteen years. During her teaching career, she obtained her Master's degree in education from N.C. A&T State University.
She also had a life long love of music. She learned to play the piano at a young age and directed the glee clubs of multiple schools.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and she also opened her home and her heart to all her grandchildren. She even cared for her parents, in their later years, in her home. There are countless examples of her love and generosity. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She was a devout Christian, and her faith brought her joy as well as strength through the trials of life including a successful battle with breast cancer. Following an extended illness, she died on November 30, 2020, in High Point, North Carolina, surrounded by loving family. She has now found her promised peace in the eternal love of Jesus Christ.
Mollie was predeceased by her brothers, Henry L. Craig and Dr. Walter O. Craig, Jr., Ph.D., and her sister-in-law Ruth R. Craig.
She is survived by her brother Irvine M. Craig (Bunnye) of Overland Park, KS, sister-in-law, Shirley Craig-Goldsboro (Charles)of Olathe, KS; her children, Attorney Brenda C. Wagner, J.D. of Washington, DC, Attorney Davida W. Martin, J.D. (Dr. Harold L. Martin, Ph.D.) of Summerfield, NC, Dr. David H. Wagner, III, M.D. (Dr. Miriam L.Wagner, Ph.D.) of High Point, NC, Davette W. Williams, J.D., M.S.N. (Dr. Elliott F.Williams, M.D.) of High Point, NC, Dr. Davonia N. Michael, M.D. (Dr. Jay B. Michael, M.D.) of High Point, NC; her twelve grandchildren, Harold L. Martin, Jr. J.D. (Kirstyn, M.B.A.), Dr. Walter G. Martin, Sr., D.D.S. (Dr. Brittney, Pharm.D.), David H. Wagner, IV, M.S. (Nailah, M.B.A.), Craig R.Wagner, B.S., Elise M. Williams, A.A., Selena N. Williams, B.S., Mollie P. Sewell, B.S., Jay B. Michael, Jr., Davon C. Michael, Jason A. Michael, B.S., Robert A. Michael, B.S.; Juliana F.T. Michael; six great grandchildren, Emery Ava, Hollis Laila, Cleo Elena, Harold Lee III, Serena Janelle and Walter Gentry Jr.
