Mrs. Millie Truesdale Davidson, daughter of Otis B. and Sadie M. Truesdale, was born July 4, 1934 in Chester, South Carolina. On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, Millie departed this earthly life and was escorted by a special guardian angel to her heavenly home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred B. Davidson; and siblings, Francene Miller, Annie L. Williams, Otis Truesdale, Jr., Clifton Rochelle, and Dr. Henry B. Rochelle, Jr.
Millie leaves to cherish beautiful memories a sister, Carolyn R. Higgins; and brother, Jimmie K. Truesdale (Beatrice); stepson, Fred B. Davidson, Jr.; step-grandson, Daryl Davidson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Millie attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools and was a 1954 graduate of Atkins High School. She furthered her education at Winston-Salem Teachers College (now Winston-Salem State University) and received a B.A. degree in Education, class of 1957. Millie began her teaching career in Virginia and later returned home to teach at Sedge Garden Elementary School. She retired in 1993, after 30 Years of service.
Millie received Christ at an early age and was a steadfast member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years and faithfully served on the Deaconess Ministry, Chancel Choir, Bulletin Board Committee; Ladies Progressive Ministry, Sheepfold Ministry and attended Sunday School.
In the community, she was actively involved with the Northwood Estates "Know Your Neighbor Club." Millie was a member of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter-Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., NEA, NC Teacher's Association, and NAACP.
A public viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home, 822 Carl Russell Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held Friday, October 23, 2020, at Piedmont Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC, with Dr. Paul A. Lowe, Jr. officiating.
