What A Wonderful Life

Mildred Annette Boston Dwyer, 72, of 665 Oakdale Lane, Canton, Georgia was called to Heaven's gates on Saturday August 28, 2021 while at home with her loved ones. She was born into this world February 26, 1949 in Forsyth County to her parents Lucille H. Boston & Leonard Earl Washington.

Mildred affectionately known as "Peaches "graduated from Atkins High school and attended Howard University with a degree in Health education. She worked as one of the first black switch board operators with Southern Bell.  She then furthered her education at Winston-Salem State University becoming a Registered Nurse and challenged out a four year course into two years getting her BSN. After working at Forsyth & Baptist hospital, she moved to Jamaica where she was the Charge nurse for 8 years at Cornwall Regional Hospital. She belonged to the sisterhood of Delta Sigma theta and the Order of the Eastern Star Bivouac  Chapter #53.

She was a civil rights activist in the 70s & 80s, breaking many barriers in the medical field for equality and women's rights. To know Mildred was to know a warrior, a fearless, strong, outspoken woman with the heart of a lion. And she passed that on to her legacy.

In August, 25 years ago while in Jamaica she met her soulmate and true love, Franz Adrian Dwyer. They soon married and their love was the epitome of black love and excellence. His love and compassion was there and shown until her transition.
