Obituary

Middie David Glymph, Jr. of 2027 Lincoln Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC departed this life on Monday, April 23, 2007 after a period of illness. He was born on January 30, 1932 to Middie and Idella Glymph. He was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1950, and attended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.

He was a retired employee of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and one of the first black supervisors in Truck and Storage. He worked for 35 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Communion Singers and the Laymen League. In addition to his church affiliations, he was also a member of the Phalanx Fraternity, Prince Hall masons (Salem Lodge # 139), the Shriner's Consistory (Sethos Temple # 170) and also an Honorary Imperial Past Potentate.

Middie is survived by his wife of 30 years and 10 months, Mittie P. Glymph; one brother, Richard (Arlene); one sister, Dorothy G. Hughes; two sons, Middie, III (Linda) of Columbia, SC and Michael of Spencer, NC; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 27, 2007 from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Kendall D. Jones, Sr. officiating. Internment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday at the Church.
