Obituary

Michael Abraham Williams, son of the late Abraham Williams and Margaret Tillery Williams, was born on October 13, 1953, in Winston Salem NC. Michael was called home to be with the Lord on Friday October 8, 2021. In Michael's youth his family moved to Atlanta, GA where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He attended Morris Brown College and was a part of the marching band. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from Redding University.

Michael was no stranger to work as he excelled in retail and moved to the Airline industry in 1981 where he continued for 40 loyal years of service.

Michael served God and his community as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He served as Primus of the Phalanx Fraternity, the President of the Les Arbres Club and he was a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta GA.

With a passion for family and community he served as an essential part of the Dalton Family Reunion for over 20 years and served as the president of the Williams-Smith Family Reunion. His passion continued as he established the Eleanor Dalton and Michael Williams scholarship fund at Winston Salem State University. He was also inducted into the Heritage Society at Winston-Salem State University in 2019.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 38 years, Eleanor Dalton Williams; loving stepmother, Eloise Lipscomb, whom he called Mama Weezie; children, Deidra (Derrick) Spears, Tonya Caroline Miller, Trés (Meredith) Vance and Sencerea Williams; grandchildren, Ramone Spears, Breanna, Cheri' and Lee Price; Michael and Michelle Christopher, and Jalen Speller; Dontreze Knox and Anonda Johnson; Isabella, Hunter, and Nora Vance; great grandchildren, Sean Christopher, Ramani Spears and Jeremiah Noble; brothers, Myron Williams, Joey Johnson; and brother-in-law, George Dalton. He also leaves to mourn his Aunt, Mary (Cleo) Paulding; and Uncle, Odell (Barbara) Tillery; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and colleagues, special friends, Lee (Carol) Cunningham, Bill (Joan) Vaught and Thomas Wims.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, October 15, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021. Interment will follow in Withers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Belews Creek, NC.
