Mr. Michael James Staley, affectionately known as "PeeWee" to his family and close friends, was born on January 12, 1956 to James and Annie "Mearl" Staley in Horry County, South Carolina. He passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2017.

PeeWee attended Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee of Goodwill Industries, Lentz Transfer, and Casual Furniture World. He was a devoted member and Trustee of Calvary Restoration Church.

PeeWee was the life of every party. He loved spending time with his family: cooking, dancing, and making everyone laugh. He was the comedian of the family. PeeWee was more informative than the Internet. He always knew what was going on with his family and friends and was quick to let everyone know. When PeeWee knew something, he would tell you and get you straight if you disputed what he knew was "right." Everyone loves and will miss PeeWee as father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Buie.

He is survived by one son, Chris Wideman; five stepchildren; five sisters, Evelyn (Ernest) Windham, Frances Hayes, Ilene Knox, Tammy (James) Davis, and Latoya Staley; five brothers, Elder Milton (Pastor Tracey) Staley, Douglas Staley, Dearwood Staley, Jimmy (Lisa) Campbell, and Jethen Staley; stepmother, Ivey Staley; a devoted friend, Dianne Wideman; a special aunt, Emma (Luscious) Prescott; a wonderful brother-in-law and best friend, James Davis; a special cousin, Wanda Reese; committed caregivers of the home- sister, Ilene Knox and nephew, Stephon Hedrick; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Chapel.  Burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 1, 2017 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
