Mr. Michael D. Shipp, 58, affectionately known as "MIKE", was called home August 16, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born August 1, 1955 to Alice Shipp and Joe Dejuanette.

Mike was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and was an employee of K&W Cafeteria with 20 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donte' Shipp; sister, Betty Mickle; and brother, Sheldon Shipp.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Tonya Scales Shipp; children, Michael Hollister, Natasha Thompson, and Brian, Dominique, Damien, and Rakeem Shipp; God-daughter, Alexia Dent; grandchildren, Amarien, Janiya, and Anahli; sister, Karla Shipp; mother and father-in-law, Carolyn (Albert) Scales and John Henry (Marie) Thomas; uncles, Sampson Shipp and Ricky Franks; devoted friends, Timothy Scales, Adolphus Haney, and Kenneth Francis; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Wallace Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 2pm on Saturday at the Church.
