Rev. Dr. Michael Wayne Robinson peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2025, while at home surrounded by his beloved wife, Rev. Dr. Claire Robinson. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary the day before on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Rev. Robinson dedicated his life to spreading the gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ by following the great commission to win souls for the Lord. His life motto was "to whom much is given, much is required…" Luke 12:48 and his motto for his congregation was "Let the Word Work For You."
Rev. Robinson was born in Winston-Salem, NC on December 12, 1955, to the late Charlie Robinson and Edna Werts Robinson. His early education included Brown Elementary School. He graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School. He attended Vincennes University in Indiana and earned a B.S in Business Administration from Jones College in Orlando, FL. He received his Masters and Doctorate in Ministry from the NC College of Theology.
Rev. Robinson grew up in Zion Memorial Baptist Church and as an adult served the church faithfully in many roles as deacon, assistant treasurer, program co-director for the Family Life Enrichment Center, youth leader, van driver and started the church's first tutoring program for kids and annual Heath Fair for the community. Rev. Robinson was ordained and licensed by Fairmont Park Baptist Church in 2004 and appointed to serve as their Associate Pastor where he faithfully served many years. He received an award from Fairmont for his outstanding community service. In 2019, Rev. Robinson became the senior pastor for Life on Lexington Church campus and under his leadership provided space for four small ethnic churches to hold services including Embrace (a Protestant Church), Iglesia Bethsaida (a Hispanic Congregation), His Glorious Kingdom (a Haitian Church), and Revelation of Faith (an African American Church). The church expanded to become Life Church Worldwide with a food ministry that serves over 600 people of all nationalities every week along with food boxes for seniors in need in Guilford County through NC Baptist Disaster Relief. Life Church is a member church of the Piedmont Baptist Association, the Rowan Association, and the Ministers Conference of High Point.
Rev. Robinson was a dedicated community advocate for healthcare and services for children and adults in underserved communities. He established an annual Health Fair in High Point to provide free screenings, Ask the Doctor workshops led by physicians and health information for families. In partnership with Guilford County Health Department and agencies, the church provided flu and covid shots for children and adults onsite during the pandemic. Recently Rev. Robinson co-founded Faith Meets Medicine, a new non-profit health initiative in Winston-Salem committed to providing health services and resources for the underserved in partnership with the Association of Nigerian Physicians of the Americas (ANPA) and held a triad health and job fair at the Benton Convention Center that included health screenings through Cone Health with recognition from the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce.
Rev. Robinson is co-founder of High Point LEAP an academic college prep program that provides free tutoring for over 500 children annually from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The program engages college athletes as tutors and includes community resources for adults. LEAP was recognized previously as Non-Profit of the Year by the Business Chamber of High Point.
Professionally, Rev. Robinson has worked for over 22 years in Administration-Carolina Access for Atrium Baptist Health Downtown Health Plaza and at the former Reynolds Health Center. Rev. Robinson has received various awards throughout his career. He was the Employee of the Year in 2003 and also a former Employee of the Quarter. Rev. Robinson was very athletic and loved basketball. He was a true blue "Tarheel". He served as the head basketball coach at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School for several years and coached various championship AAU and YBOA teams. He was also a former assistant coach at West Forsyth High School and at the former Ruthledge College. Pastor Robinson sponsored the Angels Miracle League Baseball team for youth who otherwise would not have a chance to play sports and served on the Administration Game Management for NC Special Olympics. Rev. Robinson has received various awards throughout his career. held various board positions, including church boards, four terms with the Winston-Salem Urban League, Vice President of the American Cancer Society, African American Heritage Society of High Point and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of High Point.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 43 years, Rev. Dr. Claire Robinson; mother, Edna Robinson; sisters, Antoinette (John) Clayborne of Baltimore, MD, Diane Harris, and Sandra Smith; brothers, Charles Robinson and Sherman (Linda) Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC; mother-in-law, Ophelia Reid; uncle, Thurmond Werts; aunt, Hattie Ruth Werts; devoted nieces, Tarshika Harris, Jamille Pitts, Chanda Reid, Jazzlyn Gwyn, and Joy Sturdivant; devoted nephews, John Clayborne, John Harris III, and DeMarco Burnette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his Life Church congregation whom he loved dearly and who loved him.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Westchester Baptist Church, 135 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC. Officiants are Rev. Dr. Eric Peacock, Pastor, Westchester Baptist Church, High Point, NC and Bishop Javon Parker, Bread of Life Deliverance Church, Thomasville, NC. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, charity donation in his memory can be sent to the Michael and Claire Robinson Children Fund at the High Point Community Foundation or Life Church Worldwide.
