Obituary

Michael Levi Robinson was born on May 16, 1956, the son of the late Isaiah Grant Robinson and Sallie Virginia Robinson.  Michael was affectionately known as "Mike" or "Big Mike".  He battled a lengthy illness until God called him Home on March 27, 2019.  Mike had an extremely humorous nature.  He made everyone either laugh or cry because he played jokes on them.

Mike attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.  After graduation, he attended Western Carolina University, The University of Maryland, and graduated from Forsyth Technical Institute.  His career encompassed several professions.  Mike was employed as a Paramedic for the following companies: Southeast Winston Rescue Squad, Tom Higgs Ambulance Service, Char-Meck, American Medical Response, and as a reservist for Forsyth County EMS.  Mike was also employed with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.  He had also been employed as a Security Officer with Burns Security and Royal Cake Company.  His most current employment was with Wake Forest University as a Security Officer.

Big Mike gave his life to Christ at St. James AME Church. There he sang on the Youth Choir, ushered on the "Ushers for Christ" Board, was a member of the YPD, and participated in the Christian Education Department activities.  Mike was also a faithful member of Sunday School.  He enjoyed traveling with the youth to retreats at Kittrell College, Wilburforce University, and Lake Junaluska.

Mike's other passions included all forms of music, especially Jazz and Gospel.  He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and playing cards.

In addition to his parents, Isaiah and Virginia Robinson, Mike was preceded in death by his best friend and God-brother, Joseph Jones; and a devoted cousin, John Terry, Jr.

Michael leaves behind to cherish fond memories his brother, William (Andrea) Robinson; three sisters, Lucinda Walker, Minister Gloria-Jean (Russell, Sr.) Freeman, and Sequella Robinson; niece and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, April 6, 2019 at St. James AME Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
