Mr. Michael Ray Moore, 62, affectionately known to his family and dear friends as "BOOTNEY" was born June 6, 1955 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dorothy Lee Moore and William Armstrong. He took a piece of our hearts with him on June 11, 2017 when God decided to call his son home.
BOOTNEY was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and was a graduate of South Park High School. He was also a student and resident at Memorial Industrial School.
A true angel walking amongst us, BOOTNEY dedicated his life to the service of others. As an employee of Russell Funeral Home for over 50 years, his wisdom and empathetic nature made him a true friend until the end. He also took pride in his care for the elderly of Holland Homes as he would run errands for the residents and make sure they had whatever they needed. Many can recall running into BOOTNEY at the East Winston Shopping Center where he would spend his time helping and entertaining those who frequented Crown Barber Shop. BOOTNEY had no problem whatsoever lending a helping hand to anyone in need!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Anthony Moore.
Left to cherish his memories are his brothers, Teddy Lee & Gerald Lee Moore; his sister, Cheryl Moore (George) Eldridge; his professional relatives who shared a multitude of laughs and love, the Russell Family & Russell Funeral Home Staff; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews; his neighbors of Holland Homes; family at Crown Barber Shop; many beloved friends and the entire community of East Winston-Salem, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00pm Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Hanes Memorial CME Church with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating. The family visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 5:00pm on Sunday at the Church.
