Obituary
Mr. Melvin D. Johnson, 58, passed away May 25, 2012. He was born August 25, 1953 to Perry and Ella Johnson.
He was employed by Jefferson Middle School and was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Velverlyn Johnson; one son, Damien Piper; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Ella Johnson; 7 brothers; 4 sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Franklin Chen and staff of the Derrick Davis Cancer Center and the 9th Ward of Forsyth Medical Center.
