Melvin Lester Banger, Sr. departed this earthly life Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his home. He was born November 18, 1950 and was the youngest son of Walter and Pecola Banger. He was a retired employee with the City of WS. He was an active member of Hanes Memorial CME Church and a member of the Men's Chorus.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pecola Banger; and one sister, Waltina Banger.
He is survived by four children, Melvina (William) Lockhart, Rev. Lawrence Russell (Soroyal) Sinclair, Ebonie Sinclair (Lamonte Rucker), and Melvin (Andrea) Banger, Jr.; five brothers, Walter S. McIwain, Michael Baker, William Baker, James Baker all of WS, and Samuel M. Banger of Kentucky; three sisters, Willie Mae Baker, Pricilla E. Baker, and Sandra D. Baker of WS; eight grandchildren, Shaniya Sinclair, Lawrence Sinclair, Jr., Xandria Sinclair, Danereka Sinclair, Demetrius Rucker, Lamonte Rucker, Meliah Banger, and Lamont Atwater; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, October 4, 2010 at Hanes Memorial CME Church with Rev. Clarence Cox, III officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
