Mrs. Melissa West McMahan, 50, passed away April 11, 2022. She was born on July 6, 1971 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Charles and Mary West. She was one of their four children born to this union. In 1978, Melissa moved to Mannford, Oklahoma where she was raised. Melissa relocated to Mocksville, NC in 2004. Melissa was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife, and "Nana," as her grandchildren so affectionately called her. Melissa lived by her favorite verse: Proverbs 31:31, "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
Melissa was employed by the UPS Store in Walkertown, NC until her unfortunate passing. She truly loved life and had a natural gift for making friends with anyone she came in contact with.
On Monday, April 11, 2022, Melissa was taken to soon. A brief time before, she married Marquis Lydell McMahan, Sr. on February 24, 2022, after giving their lives to Christ. They spent the last few years taking beautiful family vacations and building lasting memories with their children, grandchildren, and loved ones alike.
She truly loved Marquis and her children, Steven Courtney, Jordan West, and Elizabeth West, but nothing compared to the way she loved her grandbabies, Audree and Fynlee Courtney. She always made sure to shower her granddaughters with love. They loved their Nana and she loved them so much. Melissa may be gone but she will never be forgotten.
Melissa leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted son, Steven Courtney; two (2) loving daughters, Jordan West and Elizabeth West; parents, Charles and Mary West; three (3) brothers, Cliff West, Chuck West, and Chris West; two (2) granddaughters, Audree and Fynlee; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with with Bishop San Juan Timmons officiating and Dr. Richard W. Gray eulogist.
