McReadell Melton "MAC" Butler, Sr., 65, was born on July 23, 1949 in Greensboro, NC to the late Ernest W. Butler Sr. and Marie Elizabeth Butler.
Mac graduated from Paige High School in 1967.In 1970 he married his childhood sweetheart Linda Dawkins (Butler) and together they had one son, McReadell Melton Butler Jr. McReadell served in the United States Marines and was a devoted deacon and member of Union Baptist Church for over 40 years. He worked for Lowes Home Improvement for five years and Piedmont Natural Gas for twenty years.
He departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda; one son, McReadell, Jr. (Christy); three grandchildren, Macayla, Madison, and Christopher; three sisters, Gloria Butler Taylor (Matthew), Georgeanna B. Womack (Alton Sr.), and Carol L. Mapp; four devoted sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Sir Walter Mack Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Church.
Following the services the family will receive guests at the home, 259 Melody Ln. Winston Salem, NC 27105.
The family would like to acknowledge all of the prayers, cards, well wishes of the entire community. They are exceedingly grateful for the love shown during this time.
