McDaniel "Googie" Teeter, Jr. was born on July 9, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late McDaniel Sr. and Peggy Withers Teeter. God saw fit to call him home on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Dan was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and was a 1970 graduate of West Charlotte High School. Dan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. As a member of the Winston-Salem Fire Department, he was a dispatcher for Forsyth County and surrounding areas.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, McDaniel, Sr. and Peggy Teeter; and his brother, Ronald Teeter.

His memory and legacy are cherished by his wife of 45 years, Doris Teeter; daughter, Trenece (DeMon) Crawford-Maxwell of Charlotte, NC; son, Darian D. Holman El of Winston-Salem, NC; step-daughter, Trevette Williams of Winston-Salem, NC; step-son, Monté Southerland of Canada; sisters, Marilyn Moore of Winston-Salem, NC and Deloies Teeter of Charlotte, NC; grandsons, Christian Gilliam, Devin Gilliam, and Ja'Keem Southerland; granddaughters, Desiree Maxwell, Destinee Maxwell, Ja'Mya Williams, Tyanna Southerland, and Ceniya Southerland; great-grandchildren, Jan Lanie Maxwell, Avaya Gilliam, Karee Southerland, Ky-lin Southerland, and Kay-Dence Southerland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. There are so many people that Dan cherished and loved.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, July 31, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Dennis Bishop officiating.  Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Chapel.
