Ms. Maxine Jones was born on September 23, 1945, in Olanta, South Carolina to Woodrow Jones and Pearl Lee Melvin Dubose. She departed this life on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her residence in Winston-Salem, NC surrounded by her family.

She was a graduate of Paisley High School and Russell Business College. She was previously employed with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company until her retirement in

2008. She was a member of Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Jones and Pearl Melvin Dubose; sister, Lois Edwards and brother-in-law, Harrison Edwards, Sr.; brother, David Dubose; sister, Dorothy Dubois; grandmother,  Mary Melvin; grandfather, James Melvin; and stepfather, Robert Dubose, Sr.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, sons Ronald Jones and Maurice Harris; daughter, Sharon Renae Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; god-daughter, Lavonda Kelly; granddaughter, Christal Renae Jones; grandson, Shemar Harris of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters Belinda Jessup of Winston-Salem, NC and Rosa Dubose of Whiting, New Jersey; brother Robert (Maria) Dubose, Jr.; extended family, Thurmond and Verna Simpson, and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maxine cherished spending time with her family, friends, and her special dog, Duke.

The family would like to thank the staff of Novant Medical Center and Trellis Supportive Care for all their support and acts of kindness during the illness of our dear beloved Maxine. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, food, flowers, donations and thoughts during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 until 5:00pm Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Chapel.
