Mrs. Goldie Maxine Boulware Greer heard the voice of Jesus saying, "Come unto me and rest", on Monday, December 14, 2009. Mrs. Greer was the daughter of the late Andrew and Joycie Boulware. She was a retired employee of Mrs. Ann Brenner. Mrs. Greer was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church where she was a member of the Missionary Society and the Wednesday night prayer meeting and bible study group. She was a founding member of the Travelers Booster Club and an avid WSSU football fan. In the community, she hosted an annual Father's Day brunch for the past 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her soul mate, Vardell Solomon.
She is survived by five devoted daughters, Tomara (Ronnie) Monroe, Allison Boulware, Lonnetta (Roger) Means, Saburee Greer and Ivee Greer all of Winston-Salem, NC; ten grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Robert, Dainyel, LaTiffanie, and Christopher Greer, Antoine Lash, Wesley Summers, Burgundee Summers, and Antonio Ingram, Jr. all of Winston-Salem, NC; Justin Monroe of Sanford, NC and PV2 Andrew (Sasha) Greer of Ramadi, Iraq; seven great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life; two sisters, Miriam (Quentin) Venable and Clayvon Lyons of Winston-Salem, NC; her former spouse, Robert T. Greer; extended family, Ann Brenner and family, Josephine Marshall, Helen Woods, Hattie Wilson, Sachyal Terry, and Georgia Givens; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1pm Friday, December 18, 2009 at Hanes Memorial CME Church, 819 N. Highland Ave. with Reverend Clarence Cox, III officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
