IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Magdalene
Williams Webster
September 14, 2023
Mary Magdalene Williams Webster, 94, was born August 17, 1929 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Eugene White and Annie Bell Bryant. She entered into eternal rest peacefully on September 14, 2023 with family by her side. Her journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the legacy of resilience and tenacity she leaves behind will forever inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary was raised by her loving grandmother, the late Rosa Williams, in Winston Salem, North Carolina where she attended the local schools. She graduated from Atkins High School, and was a proud member of the class of 1948. Mary remained an active alumnus and class leader until her health declined. She continued her education at Kate Bitting Reynolds School of Nursing, going on to enjoy a forty plus year career as an Operating Room Nurse. After retiring, she continued her service to the community as a volunteer at Forsyth Memorial Hospital for 9 years.
Mary married young and reared four beautiful children. She had a strong personality and got things done, especially if she saw someone in need. She loved cooking and was known by many for making delicious cakes. She took great pride in preparing meals that left everyone gathered around the table with full bellies and even fuller hearts. Mary hosted annual family gatherings and is credited with starting the Winston-Salem chapter of the Webster Family Reunion.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and lived a life of service. Caregiver to many, she went above and beyond to personally ensure that her loved ones were taken care of. She formed special bonds with friends and neighbors, often welcoming them into her home to personally care for them in their time of need.
In addition to her parents and grandmother, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Gloria Webster Jeffries; precious granddaughter, Cayla Russell; and brother, Earl Crockett.
Mary had immense love for her family. She leaves to cherish precious memories and to continue her legacy a loving daughter, Sylvia Webster; two dedicated sons, Mazzini Webster Sr. and Jarvis Webster, Jr.; ten grandchildren, Heather McCary (Wyman), Micha Jeffries, Kya Webster, Allana Jeffries Taylor (Wendell), Nikicha Smith, Timmirian Jones (Brian), Mazzini Webster Jr., Cayla Briana Webster with whom she shared a special bond, Jarvis Webster III, and Jahmon Webster; twelve great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Otto Harvey Jeffries, and a host of relatives, and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives were enriched by her presence.
