Evangelist Mary Alice Lawson Vincent of 1021 Brookline Street slipped peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving children, her grand, great and great-great-grandchildren.
"Missy" as she was fondly called was born April 11, 1926 to Charles G. and Esther L. Lawson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her spouse, Aaron C. Vincent; and two sons, Thomas Van Horton and Willie Cornelius Fant.
She leaves to mourn her precious and loving memories, five daughters and one son, Gail Horton Blair, Linda Veronica Horton, Belva S. Marlin (Kenneth), and John E. Strother all of W-S, NC, Joan S. Ruffin of Washington, DC, and Nevayta "Faye" Strother of Charlotte, NC; a loving nephew, Willie "King" Lawson of Pacoima, CA; a special granddaughter, Charmon J. Baker of Kernersville, NC; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of cousins and gracious friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Alpha & Omega Church, 1445 Gray Ave. W-S, NC with Bishop John W. Huntley, Jr. presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
The family will also receive friends Friday, December 9, 2011 from 6pm until 7pm at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will assemble and leave from Mrs. Vincent's residence en route to the church.
The children would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice Staff that cared for their mother.
