Ms. Mary Elizabeth Truesdale, 87, of 3530 Cortland Drive departed this life on Saturday, May 19, 2007. She was the youngest child born to Maggie Truesdale, born on October 22, 1919. Ms. Truesdale attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Atkins High School . She furthered her education at Winston-Salem Teachers College , now WSSU. After graduating, she taught in New York for ten years. She then returned to North Carolina and taught public school until she retired in 1983.

She was preceded in death by her mother; three sisters and two brothers.

Ms. Truesdale is survived by two nephews, Rakib Allah (Courtney) formerly Charles Polk, who was also her devoted caregiver and Curtis Polk ( Virginia ); a host of nieces, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the Reynolds Temple CME Church with the Reverend James N. Howard officiating. The family visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Church.
