On Monday, November 11, 2024, Elizabeth Sinclair was peacefully welcomed into the arms of God, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 9, 1954, in Scotland County, Elizabeth grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, where she attended W-S/ Forsyth County Schools. She later dedicated herself to a career in caregiving as a trained nurse's assistant, working for 34 years at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, providing care and comfort to countless patients until her retirement.
Elizabeth, affectionately known as "Sinclair", "Slim", and her favorite, "Auntie Grandma", was a remarkable woman with a heart of gold. Her feisty, no-nonsense, honest approach to life was a reflection of her inner strength and resilience. Like her mother, Elizabeth never hesitated to speak her mind, always telling it like it was.
Elizabeth's generosity and warmth knew no bounds. Despite the challenges and struggles she faced in her own life, she remained dedicated to her family and friends. Her willingness to open both her heart and her door to anyone in need was a testament to her deep selflessness and compassion. Whether it was offering a listening ear with no judgment, providing a place to stay, or sharing a comforting word, Elizabeth was always there for those who needed her. Her life was a true reflection of the love and care she so freely gave to others.
Elizabeth's heart was a source of endless love, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy. To them, she was not just a Grandma, she was the heart of the family, the one who held everything together with her warmth, care, and affection. Although Elizabeth didn't have daughters of her own, she wholeheartedly took on the role of a second mother to all of her nieces. She showered them with love and attention, whether by styling their hair as children, sewing matching outfits, offering fashion tips, or sharing the latest fragrances, all while creating lasting memories that they would cherish forever.
In her spare time, when she wasn't with her grandchildren or family, she found peace in the simple pleasure of sitting on her front porch and people watching. In her earlier years, she enjoyed reading, sewing, and planting flowers, finding joy in those quiet moments.
Elizabeth was deeply loved and is now at peace. She was preceded in death by her son, Montreal Sinclair; mother, Mary Sinclair; youngest sister, Annie Doster; and many close friends and relatives along the way.
Elizabeth openly embraced the acceptance of her next journey, leaving behind a powerful legacy of love, kindness, and unshakable strength. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Monticello Sinclair, Sr. of Charlotte, NC and Carlos Sinclair, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Bobby Sinclair of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Lillie Hines of Hamlet, NC; nine granchildren, Monteria Sinclair, Carlos Sinclair, Jr., Monticello Sinclair, Jr., Selina Sinclair, Tashara Sinclair, Cozier Black, Brianna King, Nakia Foster, and Darien Morrison; two great-grandchildren, Sailor Leigh Sinclair and Sekani Elizabeth Sinclair; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, an abundance of other relatives and friends.
Elizabeth's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her memory will forever be cherished. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering
