Mary Louise Shelf Davis, 74, a resident of Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center passed away on August 21, 2016.
She was born on May 31, 1942 in Forsyth County to the late Carrie Hairston Harris and Broadus Shelf.
She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC. She was also a graduate of Carver High School (Class of 1960), where she was awarded homecoming queen. She worked for the Los Angeles Attorney General while living in California and upon returning to Winston-Salem, she began her life-long employment with RJR World Headquarters of North Carolina until her retirement. She was a member of the National Women of Achievement Organization (NWOA) in Winston-Salem, NC.
She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Dancing-Starr of Michigan; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews residing in the city.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Friday, August 26, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Friday at the Church.
