Mrs. Mary N. Martin of 4125 Carver School Rd., departed this life Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 27, 1925 in Kingstree, SC to the late William Nelson, Sr. and Virginia Nelson.

She relocated to W-S, NC at the age of 14 where she later became employed at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. where she served 39 years of service. She was a member of St. Phillips Moravian Church. Mrs. Martin was also a member of Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #533 and the Carver Road Senior Citizen Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fate Martin, Sr.; and three brothers, Sam, James, and Albert Nelson.

Surviving are her son, Fate Martin, Jr. of the home; two grandchildren, Fate Martin, III and Artesha Williams; five great-grandchildren known to her as her "SWEETHEARTS", Zarria L. Williams, Jazmin K. Williams, Alaiyha M. Williams, Ty'Ana S. Rice and TaKiyha F. Rice all of W-S, NC; one brother, William S. (Lou) Nelson, Jr. of Ft. Washington, MD; one sister, Earlene Jones of W-S, NC; a devoted niece, Catherine Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Phillips Moravian Church with Reverend Sandra Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 1:30pm on Tuesday at the Church.
