On Tuesday, July 8, 2008, while peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Mary Switzer Malachi, 78 of 1505 E. 23rd Street, peacefully entered into eternity at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born July 27, 1929 to Aiken and Leatha Switzer.
She was a faithful and devoted member of Antioch Christian Church where she served as Mother of the Church, member of the Pastor's Aid, Willing Workers and Christian Women Fellowship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Malachi, Sr. and her great-grandson, Lafayette Greely, Jr.
She leaves to forever cherish her memories four devoted children, Cozetta Malachi Wharton of the home, Willie (Mickey) Malachi, Jr., and Maeretha (Michael) Hopson both of Winston-Salem, NC and Joseph (Kim) Malachi, Sr. of Rural Hall, NC; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a loving aunt, Louise Switzer; three devoted friends, Delois Yancey, Gwen Wharton and Willie Mouzon; and a host of close family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, July 12, 2008 from the Antioch Christian Church, 1432 Underwood Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC with Reverend James A. Gilliam officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
