On Wednesday, November 30, 2011, our loving angel Mary Alice Amason Ledbetter left to be with her heavenly family. Mary Alice was a native of Winston-Salem, NC and one of eight born to the late Robert and Ozella Amason.
Mary Alice was a gold star member of First Baptist Church where she served on several committees. She was employed by the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Walker Ledbetter; one daughter, Sharon Ledbetter; and four brothers, James H. Amason, Henry G. Amason, Glenn C. Amason, and Leander D. Amason.
Mary Alice leaves to cherish two sons, James (Jeanine) Walker Ledbetter, III and George (Mary) Ledbetter; five daughters, Jocelyn Penn, Beverly Caesar, Shelma (William) Scales, Candice (Larry) Worthy, and Linda Glenn; two brothers, Robert Lee of Philadelphia, PA and Alfonza Amason of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Annie Pearl of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, December 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Highland Ave. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Church.
The family will assemble and leave from the home at 2000 Thurmond St.
