MIDWAY, NC - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Leak Imes of 812 Norman Shoaf Road, Winston-Salem, NC was called home on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital Medical Center. She was the first daughter born to Oscar and Mary Leak.

She graduated from Dunbar High School. She was employed by the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system and Duracell Battery. She was a hard worker and an exceptional cook.

Mrs. Imes was a faithful lifetime member of Goodwill Baptist Church, were she served on the Missionary Board, Spiritual and Gospel Choirs. She was a devoted President of the Winston-Salem Community Prayer Band. Because of her Passion for God and family, Mrs. Imes and her siblings formed a group known as the Leak Family Singers. They impacted many lives by ministering the oracles of God through the word of their song.

Mrs. Imes was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Mary Leak; brothers, James and George Eugene Leak; sisters, Christine, Nellie and Betty Leak; sons, PFC Henry E. Imes and Carl J. Imes; nephew, Thomas Hairston Jr.; and son-in-law, John King.

Memories of Mrs. Imes will be cherished by her daughters, Tida (Samuel) Williams and Vicki King; her grandchildren, Stephanie Tuttle, Dwight Tuttle, Shelby (Kenneth) Cuthrell, Kendrick (Cassietta) Williams, Michael King and Katina Williams; her twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, a host of uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; her sisters, Bernice (Thomas) Hairston, Catherine Hughley, Hazel (Glasco) Speight; her brothers Raymond (Sarah) Leak, and George Ledbetter. Mrs. Imes will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Goodwill Baptist Church, 548 Goodwill Road, Clemmons, NC 27012, with Dr. James Rudd officiating and the Rev. Paul Milton as the eulogist. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Saturday at the church.
