Obituary

Mary McNair Jackson departed this life on January 21, 2018 and was born September 10, 1946 to Waddell and Ethel McNair.  She graduated from Atkins High School, Forsyth Technical Community College and Winston-Salem State University.  She was a member of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Beta Alpha Chapter.  She was retired from Forsyth County Dept. of Social Services with over 20 years of service.  She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and served in the Sunday School, Finance Committee and the Outreach Ministry.  Mary volunteered at Konnoak Elementary School, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Hospice of Forsyth County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Jackson; five brothers, Thomas, James, Harold, Waddell and Charles; three sisters, Catherine, Betty, and Juanita.

She leaves to cherish her son Dwayne (Y'Denia) McNair of the city;  her husband's children, whom she loved dearly, Regina Searcy, Leslie McFarlane and David (Shatonia) Searcy, all of GA; sister, Margaret Bratcher Farmer; grandchildren, Corey Ingram, Dwayne McNair, Jr., Dwight Harris, De'Raymes Harris and Rigoberto Jr, Rachiim, Ashley, Miles, and Kristen; 1 great-granddaughter; 5 great grandsons; devoted sisters-in-law, Louise Harvey and Linda McNair; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks go to Hospice of Forsyth County, the McCoy Sisters and the Carruthers Family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with family visitation at 11:30am. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:30pm on Monday at the Church.
