Mrs. Mary Johnson Gamble, 81, was born November 25, 1930 to Rev. John and Mrs. Annie Mae Johnson in Davie Co., NC. She departed this life September 8, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health.

She was a long time employee of the former Robert E. Lee Hotel until they closed.

She was a member of the Choir and Usher Board at Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Will Rogers Wilson.

She is survived by her four children, Rev. Debora Wilkerson, M.C. (Cynthia) Gamble, Jr., Barbara Gamble, and Mary Ann (Alfonso) Upson; four sisters, Gwendolyn Wade, Ann Manuel, Johnnie Mae Mumford, and Theresa (Steve) Jones; three brothers, Johnny Johnson, Jr., Thomas F. (Shirley) Johnson, and Gilbert Johnson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Konnie G. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
