Ms. Mary Cherry Ferguson, 93, formerly of 1629 University Place, Winston-Salem, NC departed this life at the Springwood Care Center on December 15, 2010. She was born on August 17, 1917 in Rock Hill, SC to the late George and Cora Moffett Cherry. She attended the public schools of Chester County, and soon after, moved to Winston-Salem. A dedicated employee for over 30 years, she retired from Sartin's Dry Cleaners. She was a faithful and active member of Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cherry of East Spencer, NC.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted daughter, Della McDougal; five grandchildren, Alice (Samuel) Chestnut, Tanya (Curtis) McDougal, and Michael McDougal all of W-S, NC, Reginald (Annette) McDougal of Athens, GA, and Calvin (Portia) McDougal of Charlotte, NC; three great- grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ida Cherry of Great Barrington, Mass. and Edna Cherry of Catawba, SC; a devoted family friend, Katie Alexander of W-S, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, December 20, 2010 at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11am on Monday at the Church.
