Obituary

Our loving Mother, Ms. Mary Lee Crockett, of 1342 N. Cameron Ave., went to sit at her Lord's feet after passing on January 12, 2011 at WFUBMC. She was born July 4, 1922 in Lancaster, SC to the late Rosa Wade and Charlie Crockett, Sr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, five sisters, three brothers, grandson, great-granddaughter, son-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
She attended the local public schools and worked at Piedmont Leaf before becoming a homemaker. Prior to her illness of several years, she was a loyal and faithful member of St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Nurses' Board and other committees. She received several awards form church and her former Kimberly Park Housing community.
Left to cherish her with fond memories is a loving and devoted sister, Bertha Crockett; sister-in-law, Sarah Crockett; brother-in-law, Roosevelt Clark; five daughters, Mary Lou Crockett, Carolyn Harris, Beverly (Reginald) Wall, Johnnie Mae and Ninetta Crockett, all of Winston-Salem. She also reared two devoted grandchildren, Autureo Crockett of Washington, DC and Carol Harris of the home. Other devoted and beloved family members who will treasure memories include eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; twelve great- great grandchildren; a niece and former caregiver, Janice Crockett; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 12noon Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1527 E. 15th St. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Sr. Services, Tender Care, The Stitch Center's Ace Unit & Palliative Care, her CNA's, the New Light Baptist Family, Alshaundra Rolle for your love and care of Mother, neighbors, bus riders and drivers on #1 at 7am, co-workers & management, and so many others who have shown their concern, love, support, and prayers throughout the years.
