Obituary

- "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." On Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, God took his child Mary "Marlene" Chambers-Minor into his arms. She was born June 5, 1955 in Forsyth County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Chambers.

She attended the public schools of Forsyth County, having graduated from Carver High School. Marlene was employed with the City of Winston-Salem and retired after 30 years of service. She enjoyed helping others and spending time with family. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Demetria Diane Chambers-Reid; and her mother-in-law, Barbara Jean Isaiah.

Marlene leaves to cherish her memories one son, Michael D. Chambers of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Michael D. Chambers Jr., K'yana I. Reid, Teyonna L. Hardy and Semaj L. Hardy; three brothers, Langston Chambers and Melvin Chambers both of Charlotte, NC and Danny Chambers of Germany; two sisters, Linda Chambers of Charlotte, NC and Melvina Stinson of Atlanta, GA; three dedicated friends, Carolyn Scales, Gloria Bailey-Gallimore, and Tonya L. Hardy; one special friend, Michael D. Alexander; and a host of loving and devoted family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Travest Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
