Mary Rachel Cameron was born November 3, 1937, in Florence County, SC, to the late Abraham Burroughs Sr. and Sarah Burroughs. She entered into eternal life on July 17, 2023, peacefully at home.
NC Baptist Hospital formerly employed her for over 30 years. She was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church in Winston-Salem, NC, where she faithfully served as a Missionary, usher, choir member, and lay council.
She loved to cook, bake, and entertain. Everyone was always welcome at her dinner table. Shopping was her other favorite pastime. She also enjoyed gardening. And she loved the beach.
Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her sons, Tony H. Cameron and Ernest Cameron, III; brothers, Henry Burroughs, Dessir Burroughs, Jimmy Burroughs, and Douga Burroughs; sisters, Susie Mae Burroughs and Emma Burroughs; sister-in-law, Anna Lee Burroughs; and brother-in-law, Walter Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 67 years, Ernest Cameron, Jr.; her son, Timothy Wayne Cameron of the home; her daughter, Melissa Colette Cameron of Winston-Salem, NC; her stepdaughter, Lola Denise (Antoine) Smith; grandchildren, Corey (April) Cameron, Evangelist Sheena Rapley, Justin Cameron, Joy Cameron, Jermaine Cameron, Melody Cameron, Dawayne Richardson, Dontre Barrett, Shekinah Greene, Javarius Cameron, and Serenity Smith; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Courtney Burroughs and Truman Burroughs both of Lake City, SC, Charlie (Doris) Burroughs of Olanta, SC, and Abraham (Rosa) Burroughs of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Sarah Williams of Florence, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, July 21, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Hanes Memorial CME Church. The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church. Interment will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 in Parklawn Memorial Park.
