Marvin Louis Morrison, Sr. was born August 18, 1949 in Winston-Salem, NC to Benjamin B. Morrison and Ardelia L. Lockhart Morrison. "Big Marv" as he was known to some, answered his homegoing call on Friday, March 28, 2008 at his home after an extended period of illness.
Marvin attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools and graduated from Anderson High School in 1968 as a well renowned athletic football scholar.
He was drafted in the Armed Forces and SSGT Marvin Morrison, Sr. served our country from 1969-1971 and was honorably discharged as a distinguished Vietnam Veteran. He continued his service several years in the Army Reserve.
Marvin graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a BA degree in Education. After a brief teaching experience with the WS/FCS, Marvin was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Pepsi-Cola Company respectively.
He was inducted into the "C.E. Big House Gaines" Hall of Fame on September 8, 2006.
Marvin accepted Christ and was a faithful member of the New Life Community Church under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Anthony E. Johnson, Sr.
On April 17, 1982, Marvin married the "Love of his Life", Lizzie Mae Suiter, in which they have been married 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish the memories of him and carry on "His Legacy of Love" are his devoted wife, Lizzie Mae Suiter Morrison; one daughter, LaTeesha Morrison; four sons, Marvin Morrison, Jr. (Crystal) of Ft. Riley, KA, Maurice Morrison, Darren Brown, and Eric Harrison (Lisa); six grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Morrison and Carl Morrison (Tonya); five sisters, Kaye Morrison Grimes of Durham, NC, Shelia Morrison, Sharon Morrison Kirkpatrick (Chris), Sandra T. Morrison Seabron of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dorothy Jackson of Bronx, NY; a dedicated cousin, Evelyn Moore; a devoted niece, Saundra Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and "Caring Family" members.
"Big Marv" you will be greatly missed; yet your Legacy lives on!
Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, April 4, 2008 from the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1225 N. Cleveland Ave., W-S, NC with Pastor Anthony E. Johnson, Sr. officiating. Family visitation will be held from 11am until Noon on Friday at the Church.
