On Monday, January 21, 2008, Marvin Kenneth Dunlap began his eternal life. He was born September 9, 1939 and was the only child of Charles and Frances Donnell Dunlap of Greensboro, NC. From his young adult years, he held fond memories of hours spent with his stepfather, James Hightower.

His quest for education included studies at Dudley High School, NC A&T State University, and the University of Georgia. He held various job positions in the city and the state, and retired from J.C. Smith University of Charlotte, NC. Marvin was a happy person who was always seen with a smile. As a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church he held various positions and served in numerous capacities. He was active in The Social Promoters, the Knights of the Round Table, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and served as a precinct judge at Winston Lake YMCA.

Celebrating his joy-filled life are his wife, Shirley Williams Dunlap, who he married in 1969; his son, Tyrone Dunlap of Florence, SC; his daughter, Marvette D. Moore of Greensboro, NC; her children, Natasha and Delricho, and her granddaughter, Destiny. He was very devoted to his Donnell cousins, Thomas, Mae Frances, Portia, Lorraine (Pebe), Darlene, and Anthony with whom he grew up in Greensboro, NC; other special cousins are Eddie Hightower of Kernersville, NC and Christy Felton of Hampton, VA. Marvin shared special fondness for his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Williams of Winston-Salem, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, January 26, 2008 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Donald Jenkins, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 NOON until 1 pm. The Alpha Phi Alpha Omega Service will be at 11:30 am at the church.
