Martha Casey Evans was born July 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Irene Powell Sanders and Verlin Casey in Murphy, NC.  She departed this earthly life on August 10, 2021.

Christian education began at United Progressive Baptist Church and she was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.  Martha was formerly employed with Piedmont Life Tobacco Company and retired from Stratford Metal and Finishing Company with 19 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Evans, Sr.; sister, Sadie Batson Cameron; and stepfather, Wesley Sanders.

Her legacy and love will be shared by those who survive her, 2 sons, Kenneth (Patricia) Casey and Verlin Casey; 3 grandchildren, Dedrick Casey-devoted, Yolanda James, and Fredrick Clark; 2 great-grandchildren, Cymone James and Raychul Peebles; devoted niece, Ora Emerson White; 2 great-nieces, Casey and Courtney White; 1 great-nephew, Myric White; 2 great-great-nephews and 1 great-great-niece; stepchildren, John Evans, Jr., Rodney (Cheryl) Evans, Faye Mills, Ronald and Annette; sister-in-law, Maxine Ashby; God-niece, Keonna Shore; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.  Private services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
