Marion Roberta Davis was born on October 29, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC. Elijah and Robbie Davis were blessed with their fourth child. She was baptized by the Rev. E.L. Clark at Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was educated in the Forsyth County School System attending Fourteen Street Elementary and Atkins High School where she graduated from in 1962.
Marion and her younger brother Ronald moved to New York to live with their father, Elijah, after passing of her mother in 1962. She worked on Wall Street and at "O.T.B" (Off Track Betting). She attended New York City College where she tool classes in Business and Accounting. She also took interest in African American Black Arts and Theater.
Two years after the birth of her first and only child, Taurin, she moved back home to Winston-Salem, NC in 1982. Marion has lived in Clemmons area, on the south side of Winston-Salem, NC (Clemmonsville Road) and finally the north side (Stonewall Community). Marion worked at the Better Business Bureau, The Clerk of Courts and retired from Sara Lee in 2005. She was an enthusiastic individual who enjoyed people, loved spending time with her family and friends and was affectionately called "the life of the party."
On July 22, 2007, God called on her prepare for heaven, where she joined her parents, Elijah and Robbie Davis, a brother, Richard Davis and sister, Margaret Oliver.
She leaves behind a loving son, Taurin Elijah Davis of Winston-Salem, NC; a brother, Eddie Lee Davis and wife Floydeen of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Tommy Ray Davis and wife Laverne of Randallstown, MD; a brother, Ronald E. Davis and wife Shirley of Winston-Salem, NC; and a favorite aunt, Lezetta Davis of San Diego, CA. In addition she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday, July 30, 2007 at St. Matthew Apostolic Church, 3640 New Walkertown Rd. with Bishop Joseph Lowery officiating. Family visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 pm Monday at the church.
