Mrs. Marilyn Pinkney McKnight, the daughter of Betty Summers Pinkney and the late Allen W. Pinkney, was born June 12, 1954 in Winston-Salem, NC. She departed this life after an extended illness on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She resided with her sister, Chlories P. Shore of Pfafftown, NC.
Mrs. McKnight received Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at an early age when she joined Piney Grove Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC.
Mrs. McKnight graduated from East Forsyth High School of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. She also attended Winston-Salem State University Nursing School.
Mrs. McKnight's loving memories will be cherished by her husband, James McKnight of Winston-Salem, NC; two children, Rodney D. (Cassandra) Springs of Winston-Salem, NC and Hope Springs of Kernersville, NC; one step-daughter, Joycelyn (Willie) Hinnant of Sumter, SC; eleven grandchildren; her loving mother, Betty S. Pinkney; four siblings, Chlories P. Shore, Roberta (Nathan) Wilkins, Allen (Sharon) Pinkney, Jr., and Kermit (Norene) Pinkney; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wiley of Stone Mt., GA; brother-in-law, David McKnight of Brooklyn, NY; seven aunts and four uncles whom she loved dearly; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:00pm on Tuesday at the church.
