Dr. Marie Solomon Williamson was the seventh born child of thirteen children born to the late Lucile and the late Oliver Solomon. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 23, 1936.

She attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and graduated from Atkins High School in 1954.

Marie began her early Christian education at Mount Zion Baptist Church where she joined as a child. She was baptized under the pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. K. O. P. Goodwin. During her Christian Walk, she exercised the tenets of her faith as a member of the Deaconess Ministry, the Chancel Choir, and the Miriam Missionary Group. She was the Co-Director of the Youth Educational Enhancement Program (YEEP), and she was a member of the WOW Team.

Even after her formal retirement, Dr. Williamson continued to teach both as a college professor and a public-school teacher. She continuously sharpened her skills as an educator, and she never stopped teaching!
