Marie Bryant King was born to Ceasar and Della Scott Bryant on April 16, 1937 in Hale County Alabama, the 16 ^th child and youngest of four girls in the family. She was a precocious child and a tomboy. She professed hope in Christ at an early age and affiliated with the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Newbern, Alabama. She departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC after a brief illness.

Rosa Marie Bryant King was a devoted member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Her service included the deaconess ministry (a position which she previously held at the New Hope Baptist Church in Waco, Texas).

Marie majored in Business Education at Alabama State University at a time when few women studied in that field. Upon graduation, she taught English, Drama, and other subjects in Hale County Alabama high schools.  She also served as senior class advisor for several classes.

In 1962, she married Arthur King who had just graduated from Tuskegee University and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. They spent twenty years serving their country and, in every assignment, she created a safe, comfortable home for the family, by frequently showcasing her passion for cooking and entertaining. While in Waco, she was also a member of Links, Inc., the women's service organization.

Two children were born to this union and the family has now expanded with the addition of a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Arthur; two sons, Donald (Daphne) and Kevin; three grandchildren, Bryant, Jordan, and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, April 18, 2019 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Alvin T. Armstead, Jr. officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
